Dressage Dreams | Toddler Bedroom

This room could be used for a boy
or a girl!  The yellow even things out
a bit allowing for a more neutral room.

The inspiration for this board was the
organic horse plushie {2}, horse fine art {1},
and bold striped throw pillows {6}!

About the Artist | Edgar Degas

I had the change to see Degas work in person
at the Musee d'Orse in France and I was so
taken with the originals, each masterfully created
and the colors so unusual and vivid!  The unusual
compositions seemed so spontaneous, dreamlike
in movement and color that I never could have
imagined that they were so meticulously created.
But as I think back, the amount of detail in some
of the works truly show Degas careful planning.

He had it all: vision, passion, grounding, and even
spontaneity.  No wonder he is recognized as a true master!

If you have the chance to see Degas in person,
I highly recommend it!

Colonial Meets Degas | Living Room & Play Space

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how this turned out!!!

I have many favorite impressionists,
one of which is Edgar Degas.  Degas raw
sketches complimented this design perfectly!
For this board I wanted an old meets simple, stark,
and modern design so I utilized natural wood
and raw rustic decor.  The result: a very simple
and pleasing palette.

Matt & I are going to try and make this
room a reality in our own home!!! (minus the
play area of course)  It will take some time
however, as everything, as you know, is expensive.
But that's one of the best ways to implement
interior design; as your budget allows!

If you want more check out these items:

This coffee table would be a fabulous addition: {coffee table}

As would this accent chair: {leather chair}

Absolutely LOVE the Broyhill Credenza
Dresser {14} - wouldn't it make a gorgeous media console?!

Next up, painting the brick fireplace...

PS.  Next week I am planning to post an
"About the Artist" for Degas, so stay tuned &
happy decorating!

Little Sailor | Toddler Bedroom

Sweet and serene, you can almost smell
the sea air!  This room could easily accommodate
two kids, add this crib to make it a shared space.

I have to admit, I'm a little bit on a white wall
kick at the moment - guess that makes it easy
for those of you with all white walls.

I've got a great Living Room/Family Room
coming up soon, one that I think we want
to implement in our own home - so be sure
to check back next week for more design fun!!

A Natural | Dining Living Combo

I'm excited about this Board!  LOVE the natural and subtle
nature of it!  The neutral grays and browns are so refreshing.
This piece was mostly inspired by Featured Artist,

Donald Satterlee {15}

Read about his art & inspiration below!

 AND
I was also inspired by the intricately embroidered
hoop featuring the Plumed Bird of Paradise {12}.

NEW | I have discovered a new paint brand:

It is AMAZING!  0 VOC, and NO Chemicals - I have also heard
great reviews of how it applies and acts just like other leading paint brands!

Definitely check out their website,
and I will be doing a post on their paint in the near future!

Satterlee's "Fogscape" Series is AMAZING!  I especially LOVE
the Featured Photograph {15}, you must stop by his studio to see it
in print - It is enormous!  The size is almost life-sized-tree AND
it's just stunning for this work!  Any print of this well loved
series would make a wonderful addition to your private collection!

Be sure to visit Satterlee online:
