Hawaiian | Entryway

. . . . . . . .

A while ago my cousin, Rebecca, requested a Hawaiian themed entryway, and I finally got around to getting it done!   Rebecca is a fabulous Fine Art & Wedding Photographer based in Hawaii!

Be sure to check out Rebecca's website here:  www.rebeccakeizerstudios.com

. . . . . . . .

One style board with two different color ideas!  Perhaps use one for a front entrance and once for a back entrance, or additionally use one for laundry room/mudroom inspiration.

A few highlights:  I am loving Tassel Garlands these days and this one is no exception, I was glad to be able to sneak one into this board!  I absolutely adore the Kailua Contemporary Fine Art Painting, it's style and simple palette reminds me of a very famous contemporary Sacramento Fine Artist, Greg Kondos (whom I met at his show "A Touch of Blue" at the Crocker in Sacramento (see below)).  On the Peach Wall Style Board, the Pineapple Photograph is stunning!  And also loving the Number 5 Marquee and this classy way to tidy up shoes.

I have always wanted to do a "gallery wall", they are so hard to arrange, but I think I did a good job capturing the feeling of one in both of these boards!  What do you think?  Do you like the look of a "gallery wall?"

Thanks again, Rebecca, for the inspiration!

. . . . . . . .

I'm doing links a little different today, they are listed at the end by item (not number).  Don't worry, all links are still there, for your convenience!!

Hope you enjoy this board and here's some music to get you in the mood:

Snakes Snails & Puppy Dog Tails, Baby Shower | Party Inspiration

Today I wanted to bring you some party inspiration!

What are little boys made of?
Snakes, and snails,
and puppy dog tails.
That's what little boys are made of.

This was one of my favorite ideas for a baby shower!  As you probably know, we waited to find out the gender of our baby...which meant that a boy specific shower wouldn't be possible.

I decided it would be fun to create an inspiration board for the theme anyway, because it's so cute!  This adorable and creative card on Etsy, pretty much inspired the whole idea.  You can use the teethers and toys as table decorations and for your baby!  Don't forget to include your fur babies in all the fun, have a special jar for treats just for them!!  Hope you enjoy this board and get inspired for you little man's baby shower!

Country Farmhouse | Laundry Room

A little Friday inspiration!

We want to re-do our laundry room/mudroom, and here's what I have come up with so far.
I LOVE the idea of a black wall, but since I don't want to commit to a large wall I thought trying it out in a smaller space would be a nice idea!

We already installed that Ikea Ceiling Track in our laundry room and hallway, what an improvement from the old ball lamps that used to be there.  I recommend the upgrade, it's well worth the cost!

We, of course, won't be getting to this re-design until the baby room is finished and after baby arrives, but it will be exciting when we finally are able to update it!!!

Arctic Expedition | Nursery

Neutral and Adorable!!

I would love to use this for Baby H. as a toddler room, shared space or a play room in the future!

So bummed the Maritime Crib from Restoration Hardware is sold out.  I can't find any substitute quite like it.  Maybe they will come out with an updated version...here's hoping!

Check out my Pinboard for added Arctic Inspiration!

American Frontier | Baby Highstreet's Nursery

Today I am unveiling Baby Highstreet's room design!!!

We are currently still in progress working on the room itself, but things are coming along nicely.  I will be posting pictures of the real room in June/July when the baby arrives.  So check back then for the final product!

Our goal was to create a gender neutral space (since we are waiting to find out) that embodied our taste and surround our baby with some of my favorite most inspirational fine art.  I have always been fond of Colonial Home Decor as well as American Frontier & Western Fine Art, so this board is a good blend of those things!

We set up a sound system also and plan to play a lot of Johnny Cash!

This board features fine art from Edgar Payne {7} {25} (one of my biggest inspirations as a fine artist!), Marc Davis {28}, N.C. Wyeth {24}, and myself {21} {23}!

The print of "Paul Revere's Midnight Ride" by N.C. Wyeth {24} was a gift to me from my Grandpa a long time ago, so it is very dear to my heart.  I have kept it almost 10 years and finally got a change to frame it.  I am so delighted to have it my baby's room since it means so much to me.  "Study of a Hare" {21} & "Study of Geese" {23} are two of my very own art works!!!  Both are original pencil drawings that I been storing for a while and finally was able to frame them.

The vintage Coca-Cola Crate {10} we picked up here locally at an antique store (Etsy is a great place to pick one up if you would like one for yourself).  Loving the Organic Southwestern Pillow {4}, and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Sleeping Bunny Mischa Pillow by AllWildCo {5}!!!  It is even more darling in person, and one of the best perks is that it is organic too!!!  These days I can't get enough of Freshly Picked Moccasins {26} AND Olive & Andrew's crib sheets {27} absolutely love the Forest Trees Pattern especially!

I have always wanted a Colonial style Eagle Mirror {14}, still haven't picked one up yet, but I hope to some day.

Lots to do still in the baby room.  I'm hoping my energy will surface once again so we can get a move on!  Be sure to revisit the Blog in June/July for photos of the finished room!!

Don't forget to check out page 2 (below) as well!

Check out my pinboard for added inspiration!

Looking forward to welcoming Baby Highstreet!!

Mermaids | Shared Toddler Bedroom

I'm very excited to unveil this shared toddler space!  What little girl doesn't love mermaids?

Being a Fine Artist who is also interested in Visual Development for Animation, I have a love of Visual Development Art, Style Sheets & Pre-Production artwork.  That being said, I want to point out the three AMAZING pre-pro artworks in this board!

I've been a long time fan of Chris Sanders, a Visual Development Artist with various other talents, who has had his creative work in numerous animated films.  Chris Sanders work is most recognizable, I believe, in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch".  The Comic-Con Mermaid {7} is by Chris Sanders, and is available for purchase on DeviantArt!  I absolutely LOVE this Mermaid painting of his in particular.  For more on Chris Sanders work check out his Website & IMDB pages.

The other two works shown here are, Mermaids Style Sheet for Disney's "Peter Pan" {14} (a style sheet, incase you were wondering, is created to help animators know the exact proportions and shapes that embody a specific character) and Pre-Production Rough Character Sketches of Ariel {15} done by famous artist/animator Glen Keane for Disney's "The Little Mermaid. " I absolutely love Glen Keane's work!  I can't get enough.

Side note, this weekend I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Claire Keane, daughter to Glen Keane, at the "Women In Animation" a Panel Discussion at the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco!!!  Claire is also an amazing Illustrator and Visual Development Artist who's work was most prominently featured in Disney's "Tangled"!  (Side Side-Note, the event was so popular it was moved to a larger venue at Lucas Arts, specifically at the Letterman Digital Arts Center - we were greeted with a fountain toped with Yoda, and inside stood the original Darth Vader & Boba Fett Suits, not to mention Lightsabers!!!  We were so lucky!)  The event was spectacular!  I was so inspired at the event and gleaned so much wonderful knowledge from the four women artists speaking.  I was pretty much star struck at the event and for days after.  Be sure to follow Claire on her Blog and Website!

Read more about the event on my Art Blog!

Some images from our trip:

. . . . . . . . .

Lots of wonderful color pops here, especially the gorgeous Jenny Lind Bed Frames {10}.  I wanted to keep it simple and striking, so I kept some minimal black accents.  I even threw in an adorable Mermaid Infant Gown {17} incase you wanted to make this room into a nursery.

Also check out this great way to utilize/re-purpose the Ikea Raskog Kitchen Cart {20}:

Check out more Mermaid inspiration on my Pin Board!

Hope you are inspired!!!
